Bringing Ancient Greek to Learners Around the World
Ancient Greek Project is an innovative digital educational platform designed to introduce Ancient Greek to modern learners through a living, interactive and immersive experience.
Our vision is to build international partnerships with universities, schools, educational organisations, cultural institutions and language-learning communities interested in bringing Ancient Greek language and culture to new audiences.
Rather than approaching Ancient Greek solely as a language to be studied through texts, grammar and translation, Ancient Greek Project allows learners to hear, understand and experience the language through communication.
Ancient Greek as a Living Language
At the heart of the project is a simple idea:
Ancient Greek can be experienced not only as a language of the past, but as a language that can be heard, understood and actively used.
Our original audiovisual lessons feature dialogues and spoken interactions conducted entirely in Ancient Greek.
The videos are filmed in historical locations across Greece, creating a direct connection between language, landscape, history and cultural heritage.
Learners encounter Ancient Greek through human interaction, different speakers, questions, answers and natural dialogue — transforming language learning into an immersive educational experience.
A Fully Developed Digital Platform
Ancient Greek Project is not simply a concept or a future educational proposal.
It is a fully developed digital learning platform, already available for:
- Android & iOS
- Smartphones & Tablets
The applications are designed to operate offline after download, allowing learners to study and access the educational content without requiring a continuous internet connection.
This makes the platform suitable for individual learners as well as for educational environments with different levels of internet accessibility.
Multilingual Learning
To support international learners, the audiovisual content includes dynamic subtitles in:
- Ancient Greek
- Modern Greek
- English
- German
- French
Users can display multiple subtitle languages simultaneously, allowing them to compare Ancient Greek directly with another language while listening to the dialogue.
This approach supports vocabulary acquisition, grammatical understanding and contextual comprehension while maintaining direct contact with the Ancient Greek language.
The platform also provides the technological foundation for future localisation into additional languages, opening possibilities for collaboration with educational partners in different countries.
Progressive Learning
The educational programme follows a structured and progressive approach.
Learners begin with fundamental linguistic forms and gradually advance toward more complex:
Vocabulary · Grammar · Syntax · Reading · Listening · Writing
Ancient Greek is introduced step by step through meaningful linguistic contexts rather than isolated memorisation.
The aim is to help learners develop a deeper understanding of how the language functions while progressively building confidence in recognising, understanding and using Ancient Greek.
Technology Supporting Education
Ancient Greek Project combines classical language education with modern digital technology.
The platform includes features such as:
- Original cinematic audiovisual lessons
- Dialogues spoken entirely in Ancient Greek
- Multilingual subtitles
- Simultaneous subtitle display
- Interactive grammatical support
- Voice-controlled navigation
- Full-screen audiovisual learning
- A custom-designed Ancient Greek keyboard for writing practice
- Offline access
- Support for smartphones and tablets
Technology is not used as an end in itself. It is designed to make the learning experience more accessible, interactive and engaging.
Experience the Project
We believe that the best way to understand Ancient Greek Project is to experience it.
A free demo is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The demo allows educators, academics, institutions and learners to experience the teaching approach, audiovisual environment and key features of the platform before exploring the complete lessons.

Why Partner With Us?
Ancient Greek Project brings together several elements that are rarely combined within a single learning environment:
- Ancient Greek spoken as a means of communication
- Original audiovisual content filmed in Greece
- Language learning connected directly with historical locations and cultural heritage
- Modern mobile technology
- Multilingual learning support
- Offline accessibility
- A progressive educational methodology
- A multidisciplinary team combining Classical Philology, technology, filmmaking and music
Our objective is not to replace traditional Classical Studies.
Our goal is to complement and enrich them, providing educators and learners with an additional way to approach Ancient Greek through listening, interaction, context and digital experience.
Greece as the Classroom
One of the distinctive elements of Ancient Greek Project is the relationship between language and place.
Our audiovisual content is created in historical locations across Greece, allowing learners to encounter Ancient Greek within the physical and cultural environment from which it emerged.
In this way, the platform connects:
Language · History · Landscape · Culture · Technology
We believe this combination can provide international learners with a unique gateway not only to Ancient Greek, but also to the wider intellectual and cultural heritage of Greece.
Our International Vision
Ancient Greek has influenced languages, philosophy, literature, science, medicine, mathematics, political thought and education across centuries.
Today, digital technology creates new opportunities to make this heritage accessible to learners around the world.
Our long-term vision is to create an international learning ecosystem for Ancient Greek, connecting Greece with students, educators, universities and cultural institutions across different countries and educational traditions.
We are particularly interested in developing new educational connections in Asia and other international markets, while remaining open to partnerships worldwide.
